Hey guys,
I thought the best thing to write about myself would be how I came to know the Lord!!
For a few years I was having some ups and downs in my spiritual life, at times really wanting to spent time with the Lord, then I would gradually go back to "old katie" usually my "good streak" lasted for a short time. Usually I would be in need of God, and have a time when I cried out to him for help(I'm not saying that's wrong)and started back on the right path...But as soon as there were things that I knew I should give up, maybe even confess and forsake; then it was like I started "trying " to be a good person without giving any of those things God wanted me to.
I'm not the kind of person that has alot of self control like some people do, so my "trying" to be good NEVER lasted very long.
I just ended up slipping back into the selfish, ornery, mean, disrespectful ETC person that I was before.
There are so many incidents where the Lord gave me another chance, AND another chance... He has been SO gracious and long-suffering! Honestly all those times he heard my prayer and answered it, I'd pretty much just give him a slap in the face when I turned my back on him to follow the devil[ (which in reality is what I did) "he who is not for me is against me"] I know that prayer though, IS powerful and "the prayer of a righteous man availeth much" .
Towards the end of December I was at the climax, I guess of my evilness and rebellion, I actually had let the devil so much into my life that he had really convinced me that I was fine...how horrible I know! Anyways I had a dear older brother who had been fasting and praying for me 12 days (in december) He really is what I'd call a" righteous man" because that is exactly what he is.
Anyways there was a bible school coming up for us to go to in Cheyenne, Wyoming and I was already supposed to be going since I sent in a form. But the night before, the devil worked as hard as he could to make me do something stupid like run away from home...the thought had really crossed my mind and sounded not to bad. The thing about bible school was this, I knew if I went there I would come back changed, and I didn't want to change or give up things in my life that I definitely knew I would have to give up. So it's like I was "happy" in my sin, but deep down, I knew it wasn't real. I'd just convinced myself I liked my (boring) life.
So anyways let me get to the point! That evening after a heated discussion and threatening with my dad (I was the one mad) I ran outside and away from the house for a while and sat on the ground which happened to be half mud and half frozen.( i didn't have shoes on) and out there I started to come to my senses about alot of different things, and when I went back inside Isaac talked with me for about an hour straight, and lets just say that he has a gift in speaking sense into your head, not just 'sense' but the truth, epecially about us compared to God. I was my usually annoying self, but he just kept talking....At the end of the conversation, for some reason, I didn't really have much fight left in me, and I decided to go. Then my dad told me that I didn't have to go if I didn't want to. So I actually made the decision to go without being coerced into it.
The trip down there which is around 13 hours was good, it gave me alot of time to clear my mind...Once I got there in Cheyenne Wy. we went to a wonderful God fearing family's home, where I stayed but Manny & Isaac (which are the only others that went) stayed at another wonderful family's home.
Just being at the place I was, seeing all them with their zeal for the lord and how much time they spend with God, and the intense joy written all over their countenance , that alone was encouraging for me and I felt that part of me REALLY wanted that!!
The first 3 days (actually the fist days of the year) were so good for me, seeing all these people how honest,kind,Christ-like, and wonderful they were. And then the sessions were convicting and breaking down my hardness
It was Wednesday night when was the real break through in my life, right after the most convicting message I'd heard in a long time....I went up stairs where another sister prayed with me, and I just totally repented for all these different things, and then and there I gave up everything that the Lord was showing me then. And really, just seeing yourself for who you are and just a glimpse of God in his majesty , you really just see how insignificant you are, and how gracious he is.
The Lord actually came down from heaven to speak to me and forgive me, after all these times!
We so fast lose the 'wonder of it all' that we are a sinner saved by grace!! I could write so much more about what God has done in my life, I want him to have all control in my life, not holding anything back!
God make me the person you want me to be!!

ReplyDeleteIn Christ,

Amen! Praise the Lord is right! I am amazed at how God could save a wretch like me. Like that old hymn says "I once was lost but now I'm found, twas blind, but now I see"
ReplyDeleteI can now see how amazing God is, and in his light, I'm filthy, only as I let him live through me will my life be beautiful!
Thanks for the prayers! They are appreciated so much!
